This title is a well know paraphrased line from a poem by Robert Burns written after he had disturbed a mouse nest.

Just like the mouse, I had well laid plains to post on a regular basis but somehow those plans got pushed aside.

Late August and early September are busy times of the year as we all try to establish more regular routines after a summer break.

Now that summer is coming to a close, another academic year has started and many in the corporate sector are starting to plan for the coming year, I will be sharing some of results of my summer reading, dialogues with colleagues and thoughts from leading gurus in performance improvement.

I’m just back from vacation and getting caught up on my emails and reading.

The vacation was great - I chose not to use a computer while I was away and while this certainly helps create a complete break from my regular routine, the transition on my return has been a challenge.

We are now about half way through the traditional summer vacation period of July and August - now is the time to use it or lose it. So get outside and take advantage of the summer weather and typically less structured family schedule, a change in routine and some down time is well worth the effort.

Last summer I wrote about how we in North America often short change ourselves when it comes to taking vacation. While on vacation we stayed with friends in Europe where the standard vacation starts with five weeks a year; in Scandinavia, they start with six weeks a year. Enough said.

My thanks to my colleagues for covering for me while I was away, they were certainly busy. You will notice a few changes in our site - most were made to make it easier to navigate. Now than i am back, I will do my part to update some of the resources.
