In a recent survey of Fortune 500 CEO's, the number one issue facing these leaders is "the creation of a team-based culture." So how do you create a team-based culture? Drawing from leading edge writings and research on leveraging the power of high performing teams, McKinley Solutions programs provide cost-effective practical solutions to overcome major dysfunctions and facilitate engagement and alignment to create an effective team-based culture.

What it is - Team building" (or "'teambuilding'") refers to the process of establishing and developing a greater sense of collaboration and trust between team members. Interactive exercises, team assessments, and group discussions enable groups to cultivate this greater sense of teamwork. Team building is used in many contexts, for example in organized team sports and work organizations.

Why it is important - The need for team building is more and more apparent as modern society and culture continues to become more fluid and dynamic. Factors contributing to this include the communications revolution, the global market and the ever-increasing specialization and division of labor. The net effect is that individuals are now required to work with many different groups of people in their professional as well as personal lives. Joining a new group and immediately being expected to get along with them is somewhat unnatural - historically humans have worked and lived in close-knit, static societies. As such, people have had to develop methods to help people adapt to the new requirements. All kinds of people, from investment bankers to catering staff and session musicians, face the same difficulties. As yet there is no generally agreed solution to the problem - that being said, teams are more important than ever before and resources are available that can be tailored to meet their needs.

How we do it – Experience-based educational activities create one of our truly power learning opportunities today. Through the interactive, client-tailored experiential learning activities, participants can raise both their interpersonal and problem solving skills. “Learning by doing” increases retention and individual responsibility for adopting and applying the learning.
