Building Great Teams Workshop PDF Print E-mail

Teams are the most effective element in club operations. The difference between good teams and great teams is their ability to fuse together into a “tribe”.

Based on the works of Seth Godin, we will look at the development of groups, especially niche groups which form tribes – with or without you – and the value that is apparent in taking a leadership role of these groups.

There are no easy steps to leadership and team development, no plan laid out or magic formula. At the core Leadership is Not Management, and with this, managers are not necessarily leaders. Leaders today need to be able to create inspiring workplaces that truly engage employees to give their best to the organization. As a leader and a member of the leadership team, you will learn how to set aside opinions and maintain an open mind, ask questions and challenge assumptions.

Learn the five major reasons why seasonal teams are dysfunctional - inattention to results, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment and avoidance of accountability - as well as strategies and tactics to overcome them as the leaders of the tribe.

Workshop Objectives:
  • To understand the characteristics of each of the five tribal stages
  • To identify which actions affect each of the stages and which strategies will enable the tribe to upgrade to the next level.
  • To address how each stage has a unique set of leverage points and why it is critical to understand them
  • To learn the five major reasons why seasonal teams are dysfunctional - inattention to results, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment and avoidance of accountability - as well as strategies and tactics to overcome them as the leaders of the tribe.

Workshop Outcomes:
  • You will know how to maximize productivity and growth while bringing their tribes to unprecedented levels of success and achievement.
  • You will have strategies to build on the tribe’s culture by enabling people to harness their individual strengths, talents, and interests for the good of the group.
  • You will have coaching tips and a “cheat sheet” that provides the key action steps to building great tribes—including how to identify a tribe’s language and customs, how to move yourself forward while moving your people, and how to build a support network.
  • Know the five major reasons why seasonal teams are dysfunctional - inattention to results, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment and avoidance of accountability - as well as strategies and tactics to overcome them as the leaders of the tribe.
