Crucial conversations are those everyday interactions that significantly affect your life. They differ from ordinary dialogue because the opinions of the participants may vary, the emotions are high and the stakes are significant. The way in which you deal with these important discussions can have a positive or negative result and can change the course of your life.
One of the more difficult elements of being a leader and even a team member for that matter is feedback, yet it is a critical component of trust and effective service excellence. To listen for effective feedback, requires (1) Being Present, (2) Recognizing and Working with Interdependence, (3) Suspending Judgment, (4) Inquiry – Asking Questions and (5) Reflecting for Insight. Although each conversation is unique, generally the process follows this flow.
Learn how communications and crucial conversations are different with each generation. While Millennials are continuous looking for feedback, recognition and praise, there are three other generations currently working (e.g. Gen Y, Gen X, Boomers and Traditionalists), each with their own communication, work, management and motivation style.

- Understand the values and attitudes about work and life of the different generations as well as how to manage and motivate them.
