Oakville Aquatics Club is a nationally recognized community swim club with over 500 members and is recognized for success at the local, provincially, nationally and internationally.

OAK has a history of excellence on multiple levels, yet the board knew that to take its club into the future, it was necessary to find a modern sports leader. A leader that was able to lead the high-performance team, develop coaches, and lead an integrated club wide athlete development program for all levels.

McKinley led the full search from the job ad and position overviews, through round #1 and into round #2, which involved the selection task force.

Due to some reputation-related challenges, the pandemic, and the great resignation, McKinley needed to leverage its network, experience and understanding of the sports system to ensure the right candidate was at the table for consideration.

The nation-wide search found 8 candidates for round #1. Through McKinley’s Round #1 interviews Summaries, Resumes, Cover letters and psychometric assessments, the task force selected 3 candidates for Round #2.  McKinley manages a unique Round #2 process through a case-based interview process. McKinley helped the taskforce develop 5 case questions that are tailored to the needs and wants of the club. Each round #2 candidate received equal support from McKinley to put their best foot forward. McKinley equally supports the task force to put their foot forward.

One key learning for all sports organizations, the sales process is a two-way street these days.

McKinley prided itself in making the round #2 decision for the task force a difficult one (the candidates were just that good!)
